Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's resignation on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the English capital native former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I have a special position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was questioned about his reported £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to complete the current global tournament campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, due to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to finish as their group second place.

Considering his present position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the play-offs at the earliest.
