Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
