Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact

Residents reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Rescue organizations received over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
