Supporters Demand Custody of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are urging that a individual who jumped a fence and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual version of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, securing two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
