Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The motive behind the attack is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement said that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the property supervising the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have have information to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and police have been following their trail to establish their location," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, a close relative, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I am shattered," she said.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
She appealed to the citizens to not sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's children.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local TV network.
Apart from his media career, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including protective services, supplying elite guarding services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in property management and participated in property reclaimations.

His killing has caused national trauma and led to an outpouring of tributes from his audience, the authorities and various organizations.
A senior figure said he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's untimely death.
