Liverpool's Star Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the group of players in the wake of the uproar from his recent interview.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after making accusations and claiming his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has refused to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the situation. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and on a positive run.”
