Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
